Can't Catch Me
Idle Verse: A Poetry Feature
Can't Catch Me
This too shall pass, but holy hell
At times I hear sanity's death knell.
A last light falling
And ravens calling,
Voices asking of the bell,
If it tolls for them as well?
It's always tolling for us all,
We just forget to heed the call,
And forge on, bold, defiant,
Also, generally reliant,
On fantasy to get through the day,
On wishes to sustain as so we may
Survive to fight another dawn
Emerge victorious or forlorn.
We never know, and there's the gamble
It might go well or end in shambles,
But one solution always I have in my arm's crook,
When the world goes mad, I open my book.
Then the madness can't catch me
For in another world I'll be.

Excellent. I loved the quadruple words ending ‘ll’ part way through - really adds emphasis to the words.👏
Made me smile, you were always in another world...
